When things start to fall apart and everything unveils not the way you have planned, do you ever question God’s presence?
We know we need to pray. And yes, we do pray. But those prayers seem unanswered and neglected. We think that we are in the oblivion era that is hidden in His sight. Slowly, we become impatient and resentment starts to grow in the deepest part of our hearts. Many will ask, “does God care?”
I had questioned God for so many times in the past. Whenever I go through trials, financial crisis, lost of loved ones, physical sickness, and relationship problems, I often question God’s presence and love.
Does He even care? I asked that a hundred times. There was a season in my life where my heart started to grow cold and even stopped praying because I believed that He would not answer me anyway. I did things on my own. Those times that I succeeded, I told God, “see? I can do it without you.”
I was so proud and self-sufficient. Yet, as I look back, my heart knew that God never gave up on me. Despite my rough attitude towards Him, He was so patient. Those times that I thought He did not care were the moments that He lifted me up so I could go through life no matter what. It was just my pride that kept me from admitting that He had helped me and without Him, I could not do anything.
Through the years, I have learned that we cannot define God by our circumstances. His Word defines Him.
Scripture tells us how He had sacrificed His Son Jesus to die on the cross so we can have Salvation through His blood. He showed His love and care since the beginning of time.
I love how Paul stated it, “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (8:32) It is the reality that the greatest gift He had for us was to sacrifice His son so we can be redeemed. If He did not spare His only son, do you think He will abandon us for little and lesser things?
I know I have not been a good child. But I always thank God because He cares for me so much. What a great reminder that God truly cares with every concern that we have. David can even attest to this when He asked who we are that God is mindful of us (Psalm 8:4).
Even though we deny Him, His Word will testify. Through providential circumstances in our lives, His goodness will be imprinted on them. Being able to stand still amidst life cruelty and uncertainty will prove How God cares.
Are you still alive today? It is because of His grace and miracle. He cares even in our sleep.
What keeps you from looking up to God?
Physical illness? Financial problems? Broken relationships and shattered dreams?
Remember, in whatever walks of life we are into, He is there. And He cares for you and me.
Does God care? Oh, yes! He does!

P.S. (This was written during the time that I felt that God was silent).
DOES GOD CARE?
Days seem so dry and weary
Though the sun shines brightly
My heart still feels gloomy
With pain and heartaches
I ask, “Does God care?”
The answer need not to be spoken up
Though the mountains be gone
And the night sky is darkened
Know for sure that God does care
We may not feel His presence
We may think He is distant
We may turn our backs on Him
Still for sure, He cares
Rejoice and wait on Him today
