A Story to Remember this Season

While many of us are busy with social activities, this season of lent is a good opportunity to set aside time to remember a story and reminisce the true essence of this holiday.

I like this time around. I can stay home the whole time and just spend time with God. One thing I have in mind is to commune with Him and ponder on His goodness in our lives.

For us Christians, there is neither sadness nor grief, only rejoicing because 2000 years ago, Jesus came into this world. He was destined to die but rose again so salvation of our souls is made possible.

What is the story?

John mentioned in his book that the Word which was from the beginning became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). Jesus, being the Word became a man. He walked with mankind and lived like the rest of us. But he has a purpose – to be offered as a living sacrifice so you and I can be freed from the bondage of sin.

Through His death and resurrection, there comes our salvation.

Through His resurrection, he conquered death and proved His divine power. We can now be made alive in spirit having been raised through Christ. We have victory over death as what Paul mentioned in his letter to the Corinthian brethren (1 Corinthians 15:51-58).

“O death where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”

John 3:16 is God’s love in action. Remembering how Christ suffered and sacrificed for us is such an unfathomable reality. His love compels us to surrender our lives for Him.

In His divine intellect, he had caused the veil of the temple to be torn apart from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51). This means that we already have our direct access to Him. We can now boldly come to the throne of His grace that we may obtain mercy and grace to help us in time of our need (Hebrews 4:26).

Knowing these things, we rejoice and not mourn because Jesus our Savior has risen. He is now at the right hand of the Father (Acts 7:55-56) and our advocate (1 John 2:1-2).

Remembering this season brings about self reflection on God’s sacrifice, love, and mercy that while we were yet sinners, He died for us (Romans 5:8).

Rejoice now my brethren. Our salvation is indeed real!

How do know that you are already saved?

What can we do to bring back all the glory to Him?
