We have heard so many times the statement, “God is never late nor early. He is always on time.” Easy to understand, right? However, this seems to be hard when we have our own plans and timeline. At times, we want to align His timeline with ours not the other way around.
I am impatient. Whenever I want to do something, I do my best to accomplish it. With years and years as a Christian, God has corrected me so many times. His timeline is different from mine. This is what I always end up realizing whenever I tend to push what I want. We see great examples from His Word how we behave when things are not falling into their place according to how we want it to be.
Abraham’s Faith
We all knew the story of Abraham. How he waited for twenty-five long years to see God’s promised fulfilled. I wonder how Abraham endured days, months, and years waiting for His promise. Aside from that, during those long years, there were no proofs of His promise coming into existence. Sarah was barren. But His faith did not waver until he saw it come to pass.
Waiting is a challenge when we follow our own plans. It is boring when on our waiting, we do nothing. Whenever I struggle to trust God’s timing, Ecclesiastes 3 always keep me on track. “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” Indeed. All we have to do is trust God because He has made everything beautiful in His time (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
Joseph’s Endurance
Those times that I could not see the things that God has telling me, I want to read the story of Joseph. What he had been through was a test of endurance. And I am encouraged by his faithfulness to the Lord. That in every circumstance of pain, heartache, and hurt, he saw God in it. Such a blessing to think that maybe, the tough times that we have to endure are the preparation for God’s great plan in our lives.
Let’s take things one step at a time. Believe in what God placed in our hearts. Joseph had his vision of what God would bring into his life. Yet, the fulfillment was not immediate. Instead, he had to experience so much. In the end, he was able to see God’s orchestration of things. And, he praised God.
David’s Perfect Timing
What I like about David’s story is his patience to wait for the right timing of God. Though, he was already anointed to be the King of Israel, he never went ahead of God’s plan and right timing. When he had the chance to proclaim his name as king, and he had the opportunity to kill Saul to be the king, he refused it. He waited on God. And, we see that despite all that he went thorough, he is the man after God’s own heart. He allowed His divine orchestration according to His way and time.
There is a reward to those who learn to trust in the Lord and in His perfect timing. There is a time for everything according to His timeline. I know it is real to have battles on waiting and trusting Him, but there are biblical examples of those who were rewarded because of their trust on God’s timeline. Remember, there is a time for everything. And in this, we have to learn how to wait patiently. God’s timeline is different from ours.
Are you in the season of difficulty trusting God’s perfect timing with your prayers? Health issues? Love life? Plans and dreams?
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”
“He hath made everything beautiful in his time:”
Also, I want to share this song that I keep singing when I am in this walk of life:
